Q 1. Where would you normally use a timber handrail fitting ?
As part of a handrail when needing to turn a 90 degree corner or wanting to return towards the wall.
Q 2. What is it made out of ?
Plantation grown Australian Oak (depending on availability it is either Victorian Ash or Tasmanian Oak).
Q 3. What are the important dimensions ?
Overall : 50mm Diameter turning through 90 degrees with an internal radius of 110mm
Both ends have a 16mm Diameter x 35mm Deep hole
Q 4. How do you fix it to the handrail ?
Drill the end of the handrail (with a 16mm drill bit), then using a 16mm multi groove dowel, glue the rail to the pre-drilled bend. A small amount of sanding will be required to blend where they join.
Q 5. How should you finish it ?
If looking for a natural finish, then a clear lacquer will be fine; or you can use a stain to achieve your desired colour then use a clear lacquer to finish it off.
