The term Stitching is a generic term used in metal work. It describes a method of repairing cracks or sealing seams in metals, where other methods of repair are not practical. More often used to repair cracks in cast metals, this process involves filling the crack with items such as bolts, plugs, rods, screws, pins etc… Specially designed straps can also be placed across the crack to prevent widening. Although there are other methods of repair such as welding, these methods have often proved either ineffective, costly or difficult.
