Bugle Batten Screws
The type 17 Bugle Head Batten decking screw, used for securing decking planks. As the screw enters timber, the leading edge of a type 17 (auger type) cutting tip bores a pilot hole, reducing the need for pre-drilling. Coarse threads clear the cuttings from the hole as they bite into the timber, providing a secure anchor. A bugle shaped bearing surface compresses the timber as the head recesses its self into the surface. The shallow angle of the bearing surface reduces the chance of crushing and splitting.
