Description

CUTEK® Wood Preservative is an oil based wood stabiliser used for the pre-treatment and remedial treatment of exterior wood in industrial and domestic situations.

CUTEK® Wood Preservative coated wood resists damage caused by fungal decay, mould, termites and moisture, improving dimensional stability and minimising warping, cupping and splitting.

Like CUTEK® Extreme CD50, CUTEK® Wood Preservative has been specially designed to withstand Australian conditions. Penetrating deeply into the timber, the protective properties within CUTEK® Wood Preservative repel moisture to improve the service life of timber.

CUTEK® Wood Preservative is easy to use and will not peel or flake, making maintenance fast and simple. Applied as a clear oil, CUTEK Wood Preservative will allow timber to naturally silver over time. Mixing in one of 16 CUTEK® Colourtones will help to enhance and maintain the freshly oiled natural look of your timber or alter your timber colour to meet your design requirements.

CUTEK® Wood Preservative is the best choice for large scale commercial and government projects.

1. What is the recommended coverage of Cutek Wood Preservative?

Cutek recommendations below are figures that represent typical averages for common decking and cladding timbers such as Western Red Cedar, Pine, Spotted Gum, Jarrah, Ironbark, Ipe, Tiger deck, Cumaru and other Exotics, Thermal wood etc.

    • Softwoods (Pine & WRC)5–8m2/litre
    • New hardwoods dressed 10–20m2/litre
    • Old restored timber dressed 7–9m2/litre
    • New timber rough sawn 7–9m2/litre
    • Old restored timber rough sawn 4–7m2/litre
    • Shingles and shakes 2–5m2/litre

2. What is the recommended clean up process for the Cutek Wood Preservative?

The recommendation from Cutek is that your equipment may be cleaned with soap and water or turps. Oily rags and other oily materials may cause combustion fires. Immediately after use you MUST (1) spread out all oily materials outside to dry, by flattening them out to their full size in an airy spot at temperatures above 4 degrees Celsius, or (2) Wash them thoroughly with water and detergent and rinse. Remove all oil from all clothes, tools, rags and any other materials contacted during use or as a result of an accidental spill. All wash water is to be disposed of properly.

3. What is the ongoing maintenance required for my timber once I have used the Cutek Wood Preservative?

Cutek Wood Preservative will gradually fade over time rather than peel, split or crack, so the rejuvenation of timber coated with Cutek Wood Preservative is a simple fast and cost-effective process.

Cutek Wood Preservative should be reapplied when the wood is no longer beading water, or as frequently as necessary to retain the natural beauty and colour of the wood.

Recoat time varies widely according to many factors including the age and porosity of the wood, species, situation and exposure to the weather. Typically, horizontal exterior smooth surfaces such as pool decks and handrails may require coating every 6 months to two years, while vertical rough sawn cladding may require maintenance less frequently
